When we are allowed to be in a space to share, to listen and be listened to, and to solve obstacles together - anything is possible.

People change or they don't. It's not your business. Your business is to understand your own mind. When you understand your own mind, you feel gratitude when they change and gratitude when they don't. You can argue with reality all you want. Or you can stop arguing long enough to understand it and be free.

Once I stopped at the grocery store after I picked up the kids from school.
"Would you like to come to the store with us?" I asked my son.
"Not really. I am tired."
"Okay, you can stay in the car while your sister and I shop."
When we were getting out of the car, my son said "Okay, I'll come."
Walking through the parking lot I asked him "Would you like to make dinner tonight?"
"No, I have homework."
"Would you like to pick out what I will make for dinner tonight?"
"Yeah!"
In the store, 5 minutes into our shopping experience he says "Mom, let's make nachos! I haven't had them at school for a while. I would like some."
"Hm… I don't know how to make it. If we buy the ingredients, would you make it?"
"Yes!"
That night my son was the chef and I was the apprentice chef.

He beamed with pride when my husband asked what was for dinner.

We both forgot the lettuce... but made an awesome salad with it the next day.

After dinner he finished his homework.
